The Army is actively recruiting Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join the Army Medical Department (AMEDD). This is a unique and exciting opportunity for individuals who desire to provide world-class healthcare to soldiers serving our country all over the world. The benefits of being an Army Medical Specialist Corps Officer and a military healthcare professional are many.

Army PA: Army PAs enjoy greater degrees of responsibility and freedom in the military than is experienced in the civilian environment. PAs are active in every aspect of patient care and practice in both clinical and field settings. PAs instruct combat medics in their units and have the opportunity to teach future PAs in the Army’s PA program. Army PAs are versatile and practice medicine from high-tech clinics to field hospitals in support of Infantry, Armor, and Airborne units. You’ll have a wide range of opportunities available to you, including Family Practice, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine. In addition, as a PA in the Army, you’ll be eligible for fully funded postgraduate education in areas like orthopedics, emergency medicine, cardiopulmonary perfusion, occupational medicine, and aviation medicine. Army PAs have a wide range of career opportunities available, all while they continue working for the same organizations and accruing benefits.

Special qualifications:

  • Be 21 to 46 ½ years of age.
  • Hold at least a baccalaureate degree.
  • Be a graduate of Commission on Accreditation of Allied health Education Programs accredited training program.
  • Be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Be employed as a Physician Assistant if you completed your PA training more than a year ago.
  • Meet the prescribed professional, physical and ethical standards for appointment as a commissioned officer.
  • Have a favorable security investigation completed.
  • You are a U.S. citizen or have lawfully entered the U.S. as a permanent resident.

TIME OFF:

Soldiers on Active Duty receive:

  • 30 days vacation earned annually
  • National holidays
  • Sick days as needed

Soldiers on Active Duty have 30 days vacation earned annually. Depending on your job, weekends and national holidays are also paid leave.
