PROPOSED BY-LAW CHANGES

Kristi J. Stemsrud PA-C DFAAPA
President, SDAPA

In the General Membership meeting at the March meeting in Rapid City one of our newly retired members made a motion to create a Retired Member membership category in the SDAPA. This was seconded and approved by the General Membership. The following change to the By-Laws was approved by the SDAPA Board of Directors during a conference call meeting in July 2011. Under Article 4: Membership Section 2: Membership Categories the addition of letter F was approved to read "Retired members shall consist of Physician Assistants who were former fellow members and have chosen to retire from the profession and opt to be classified as retired members. A retired member shall be entitled to privileges on the floor but not entitled to vote or hold office." The SDAPA Board of Directors decided to attach a fee of $10 per year for this membership category. This will be placed on the ballot in early 2012 to be voted on by the General Membership.
