The SDAPA is a membership organization of physician assistants. Membership is also available to nurse practitioners and other interested parties.
The Academy is run by a volunteer board of directors with standing committees for various organizational functions. The organization is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the national organization.

The membership drive is an annual event and starts in December of each year. The membership application is available as a PDF download here.
Conferences
The Academy sponsors two continuing medical education conferences per year. The spring conference is traditionally held in late February or March in the Black Hills area, and the fall conference is held in September in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. For more information about the conferences, including registration, brochures, vendor information and presentations are available in the conferences portion of the website.
