NOTICE: PROPOSED BY-LAW AMENDMENT
Amend the current Bylaws regarding election of Delegates. AAPA apportions the number of delegates that each state chapter is eligible for during the following years’ House of Delegates. It is recommended that we change the current Bylaws to reflect the election of the number of delegates apportioned by AAPA for the following year. The Chief Delegate would be chosen from the elected delegates and alternate delegate. It would remove the requirement that the delegate and chief delegates serve as either alternate or delegate the previous 1-3 years. Each year a new set of delegates would be elected to serve for the following years House of Delegates.
For example: For the 2008 House of Delegates, AAPA has apportioned 3 delegates for South Dakota representing our membership numbers and our comparison to the other state association representation. We would elect 3 delegates and an alternate delegate for the following year. If our apportionment changes, the top vote getters would assume the roles of delegate or alternate delegate as appropriate. I.e. There are 5 candidates and an allotment of 2 delegates. We would select the top 3 vote getters for the 2 delegate and alternate delegate positions.
